“Little Princess”

The novel “Little Princess” analyzes the importance of volunteering. The main character in the novel is Conor Grennan. Grennan lacks a busy schedule and finds something to do that will bring value to his life. He travels globally for fun while seeking volunteer programs that would support people especially children. He starts off by helping children at an orphanage in Nepal for a three month period. The notion depicted by Grennan gives the importance of determination and persistence to succeed. Grennan travels to dangerous locations to assist people in need. Grennan helped many children in the Nepal orphanage by treating them well. He did this within a short duration, building a strong relationship with his new family in Nepal. The Grennan’s aim was to visit sixteen countries to provide his volunteering services. Volunteering increases the social relationship as it promotes interaction with different cultures. “Little Princess” gives an analysis on the importance of volunteering as it is little known to individuals. Conor took a one year adventure to countries offering volunteering services. He made a promise of travelling back for them.
            Conor’s passion to volunteer was first filled with uncertainty as he did not know if he had the right skill. The fact that the country that he visited was torn by civil war did not limit him. He overcame the experience and the challenge of living in a new country to save the life of children. The reward that came with the challenge was great as it came as experience. The fact that the children he visited in the orphanage were not orphans devastated him triggering his need to create a better life for children from remote villages. Child traffickers take advantage of the vulnerable families to promise children protection from the civil war only to traffic them.
            The issue of child trafficking indicates in the novel as Grennan is shocked to see that the process experiences in poor countries. The illiteracy level in the countries he travels is concerned as he terms this as the reason of child trafficking. People who take part in child trafficking do so for money.  The court fines on child traffickers should be increased to create stronger sanctions. The move will help in reducing the number of children undergoing child labor, slavery and prostitution. The novel provides valid information on the mistakes made by children. The mistake listing helps in avoiding such problems in future.    
            The audience for the novel can gain experience on how to handle new environments. It helps with handling culture shock as depicted by Grennan. The information on the Nepal orphan creates a basis for organizations in Nepal. Financial support to the Nepalese organization helps in the moral protection of children from crude environments. The internet provides information on the topic with most links originating from the “Little Princess” novel. The films on Conor Grennan depict his amazing works as stated in the novel. It is an interesting and wonderful novel as it provides information on helping children. The fact that Grennan plans to go back for the third time is motivating for the topic on volunteering. It is a fantastic book filled with exciting stories. The novel is best suited for individuals with a thrill of adventure and care. The book gives information on child trafficking methods used in poor countries.
