Subject Guides
The St. Cloud State University website is an online tool that comes with a comprehensive Subject Guide. It assists students with different research queries. The assignment calculator provides a 12-step plan on how to finish an assignment on time. This ranges from understanding the assignment to outlining the overall structure and writing the first and final drafts.
The topic areas on the home page can be chosen from a scroll down list. A brief overview of the topics covered is just below the selected topic’s subject line. If the option is Business International the areas covered include; information systems, finance, and real estate among others. The research tools are on the left of the page and are hyperlinked. The same tools are also on the main page. A research tool such as “Articles, Journals, Magazines, and Newspapers" has several hyperlinked databases. These include, LexisNexis Academic, Emerald Full Text, and NetAdvantage.
The hyperlinked database redirects the student to a separate page that requests for a “HuskyNetID” and a password allowing them to login to the Library Proxy Services. Other research tools on the Subject Guide include finding facts, definitions, and overviews, web resources, laws, statistics, and library Information. The “Library Information” option has a tool bar that allows the student to find articles, books, journal titles, and references. It also provides assistance on citation styles and course guides on all disciplines available.
The option to chat with a librarian is also available on the Subject Guide. It lists the semester dates that the library opens, the physical location, timelines on weekdays and weekends, and when it closes. A phone number, email address and the option of live chat are also listed.
